Farm Wedding Nova Scotia

Brittany and Clark were married on 8th July 2017 at Healy Farms, Kentville in the gorgeous Nova Scotia region of Canada. Their wedding was a beautiful family affair, bringing together friends and family from Australia and Canada for the first time. Brittany found her dream dress in the Peter Trends Havana gown and was looked after by the amazing ladies at Bridal by Aubrey Rose in Perth, Western Australia. We recently asked Brittany a few questions about love, her wedding day and finding the perfect dress.

The Proposal

Peter Trends: How did you meet your husband? Brittany: I had been backpacking Australia for a year, and had ended up in Cunderdin, Western Australia working at the Ettamogah Pub. I told myself I’d be out of there in no time. That lasted until Clark walked in wearing a beanie and I knew he would fit in with my Canadian lifestyle just fine. He started walking me back to the backpackers house on a regular basis and the rest is history : )

Peter Trends: How did your husband propose to you? Brittany: We were living in Newfoundland, Canada at the time, and had made a quick decision to relocate back to WA. We still had some bucket list items to tick off before our departure so we set off for Change and Fogo Islands for a getaway with my mom and step dad. It was there on a beautiful pebble beach that Clark proposed.

The Wedding

Peter Trends: What was your favourite part of your wedding day? Brittany: For the first time in our relationship we had our friends and family from Australia and Canada in one place. As much as we loved our first glances with one another, as well as the speeches, dancing and everything in between I think that just seeing our guests mingle and carry on with one another was really special to both of us.

The Wedding Dress

Peter Trends: How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown? Brittany: I first tried on gowns in Florida while on vacation with my family. I think doing so set the standard for that butterfly effect pretty high. I didn’t buy a gown that day and continued my search in Western Australia. I found myself very stressed at a bridal salon and without my family nothing seemed special. Bridal by Aubrey Rose showed up on my Facebook and after looking at their photographs I KNEW that they would have a dress that would make me feel special. I organised with my Canadian besties in Sydney and Albany to travel to Perth for the weekend and we went in for our appointment. I knew as soon as I walked in that I would be walking out with a dress receipt and that I did. The ladies there face-timed my mom just so I could double check it was perfect. They were so fabulous!

Peter Trends: What did you love about your wedding gown? Brittany: Compared to many dresses I’ve seen in Canada I thought my dress was super unique. It was edgy, but still classy and I knew it would surprise most of the guests, and most importantly my husband-to-be. The day/night of the wedding I was so comfortable, as the dress was light and easy to manoeuvre.

Peter Trends: Any words of wisdom for future brides? Brittany: Don’t rush into the planning process, enjoy being engaged and get a feel for what you really want. Dig deep to find out what is most important to you, keeping your love at the centre of it. On the day take a couple of minutes together to just breathe and enjoy one another.
