Through Thick and Flynn – Alexandra & Jake’s beach wedding along the Great Ocean Road Australia

Their smiles say it all! Alexandra and Jake got married in Warrnambool, at the end of the Great Ocean Road, just as the Covid restrictions eased in November, 2021. The couple who are high school sweethearts and best friends enjoyed a romantic stroll on the beach after they made their vows at St Joseph’s Church. Followed by a fun filled reception at the exclusive Matlida room, at Warrnambool Racecourse. You can tell by the photos it was the best day of their lives!

The bride looked stunning in Casablanca, one of our Emanuella dresses. Timeless and elegant, the Casablanca gown is a mermaid style dress with expertly appliqued guipure lace motifs. The gown showcases a stunning structure with boning throughout the bodice and the skirt flares out from the knee in tulle to achieve that classic fit and flare style. An Australian designed wedding dress by sisters Monique & Paulein at Peter Trends Bridal, Roseville. The gown was purchased at Dubois Bridal Boutique, Warrnambool.

We asked Alexandra to tell us more about her special day:

Can you tell us how you and Jake met? Was it love at first sight?
I met Jake at a party when I was seventeen!

Where did you two get engaged?
Jake proposed to me at a Waterfall in Lorne, Victoria. A romantic setting with spectacular waterfalls and ancient forests along the Great Ocean Road.

What did you enjoy most about your wedding day?
The whole thing, it all went so smoothly and the Covid restrictions were dropped the week before. I loved every part of it!

Did you have a theme or inspiration for your wedding day?
Our theme was greenery with white and gold colours. The inspiration was understated elegance.

How did you find the search for the perfect wedding gown?
The experience shopping for my gown could not have been better, I picked out so many dresses I thought I would like but Pam at Dubois picked out my dress I didn’t like it on the hanger but once I tried it on – I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.
I knew it was the one!

Was there anything particular with the bridal gown that you loved?
What I loved about my wedding gown was that it was so different to any other gowns I’d seen before, it fit me perfectly and hugged my curves. I absolutely adore the lace, beading, boning, the mermaid style and how the bodice isn’t white, all the little touches.

Do you have any words of wisdom for future brides?
Enjoy the day – it goes way too fast and try not to stress in the lead up, it will all work out perfectly.

Is there anything special you would like to share with us about your wedding day?
Honestly the best day of my whole entire life getting to marry my best friend and high school sweetheart. I wish I could do it all again.
