Katie & Ray | Melbourne wedding with a sprinkling of rain

Katie and Ray were married on a stunning and moody Melbourne day with just a sprinkling of rain. Katie looked breathtaking in her Dominica lace wedding dress with train.

Kate and Rayner were married on 15th April 2018 at Queens Park, Moonee Ponds in the sunken garden. Katie chose the Dominica lace wedding dress with train from our Emanuella collection, which she purchased from one of our Melbourne stockists, Always & Forever Bridal. The dark clouds and a sprinkling of rain did not dampen the joy of their day! Whitevine Photography captured some truly stunning shots in the moody Melbourne light. Afterwards a reception was held at Rupert on Rupert in Collingwood. Here we ask Katie some questions about her wedding day and dream dress!

Peter Trends Bridal: How did you meet your husband? Katie: It was a workplace romance! We’re both paramedics – I was working in the country and requested a helicopter for a sick patient. Ray was the Intensive Care Flight Paramedic who turned up.

Peter Trends Bridal: How did your partner propose to you? Katie: We were having a picnic dinner near our old home by the Maribyrnong River. I was blabbing on about my plans and intentions for the year ahead. Ray asked me “how about this for a plan?” and pulled out the ring.

Peter Trends Bridal: How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown? Katie: I dragged my mum, godmother and maid of honour around for a day, trying on over 40 gowns. My mum found the pictures of the dress online. I went to check it out and it ticked all the boxes. The rest was easy!

Peter Trends Bridal: What did you love about your wedding gown? Katie: I loved the shape of the bodice, the cut, the lace and the beading. Needless to say everyone else loved it too.

Peter Trends Bridal: What was your favourite part of your wedding day? Katie: Walking down the aisle towards my husband – it really was a huge life-changing moment. I was unexpectedly emotional. Having all our friends and family come from near and far to celebrate with us was really special.

Peter Trends Bridal: Is there anything special you would like to share with us about your wedding day? Katie: The one thing you can’t predict is the weather – so bring an umbrella! It’s only one beautiful day in the rest of your life, so keep all your ‘crazy’ in check.

Peter Trends Bridal: Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day? What was your inspiration? Katie: My fabulous friend Taylor Amiguet took care of all the styling – and given how talented she is, I was very happy to leave it up to her! I wanted to have people I knew involved, so my cousin Lisa made the cake, the photographers were close friends, the make up artist is my cycling girlfriend and so on…

Peter Trends Bridal: Do you have any words of wisdom for future brides? Katie: Ask yourself “will this huge flower arrangement/ice sculpture/20 piece band change my day? Will it change the way I feel about my husband or how much we love each other?” If the answer is no, then it’s probably not necessary.
