Farm Wedding, Canberra ACT – Kelly & Kain

Kain and Kelly met during high school and decided to tie the knot in October, 2018. The wedding was held at a beautiful farm venue, just 20 minutes outside of the Canberra CBD, called Gold Creek Station in Hall, ACT. Kelly looked outstanding in the Boston dress, a strapless fit and flare gown from our Emanuella collection and she was looked after by Affordable Bridal in ACT. Enjoy an inside look at their wedding below, with responses from the bride.

Peter Trends Bridal: How did you meet your husband?

Kelly: Kain and I met at high school and started dating not long after he graduated. We reunited at a friends house when I was 16 and he was 18 and started dating not long after.

Peter Trends Bridal: How did your partner propose to you?

Kelly: Kain proposed in the Hunter Valley, NSW. He had hired a treehouse in the hills which was beautiful. He got a book made with 100 things he loves about me and gave it to me whilst I was taking a bath. On the last page, it asked me to Marry him.

Peter Trends Bridal: What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Kelly: It was surreal knowing that everyone was there to celebrate Kain and I. I found it breathtaking seeing everything that I had in my head all come together perfectly. But I think ultimately my favourite moment was when we took 10 minutes alone to stand on a second level balcony which overlooked all of our guests and our reception. It was an amazing moment to take a breather and really soak in everything we had achieved, all of the wonderful people who took the time out to attend our wedding and celebrate a moment as husband and wife.

Peter Trends Bridal: Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day? What was your inspiration?

Kelly: We really wanted an informal, yet stylish rustic wedding which had a relaxed feel. As soon as we went to the Gold Creek Station, we met with Craig (the owner) and together with the location and his relaxed personality we knew it was perfect for us.

We really wanted an atmosphere where everyone could just celebrate, relax and have a good night.

Peter Trends Bridal: How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?

Kelly: I was really lucky as my gown was the second gown I ever tried on. As soon as I put it on I knew it was for me. I loved that it was a unique style. I liked the idea of having a gown which nobody would necessarily expect me to wear (off white). It was really simple. I was dreading the experience, but the ladies at Affordable Bridal were really easy to deal with and I ordered the gown that day!

Peter Trends Bridal: What you loved about wedding gown…

Kelly: I loved that the gown made me feel beautiful, it was unique and nothing that I thought I would have picked prior to going dress shopping. I loved that it gave an antique look, which tied in perfectly with our rustic wedding.  It was incredibly comfortable, with a beautiful mix of detailing with both pearls and lace. I wish I could wear it again and again!

Peter Trends Bridal: Do you have any words of wisdom for future brides?

Kelly: Don’t stress on the little things because, at the end of the day, everything will fall into place. Remember to take a moment on the day, with just you and your husband. The day goes insanely quick and the 10 minutes my husband and I took out of our night together, is something I will cherish. Remember to have fun!
