Bubbly and fun-loving couple Izzy and Tom marry by the waterfront surrounded by bright colours, family & friends

Bright colours and laughter all around sums up this stunning wedding. A classic, romantic ceremony at the old stone church St Martin’s, Killara followed by great atmosphere at Aqualuna Waterfront Dining with panoramic water views across Iron Cove. Real bride Izzy looked absolutely stunning in her strapless Sonoma lace and tulle ballgown from Emanuella – our Australian wedding dress designer collection.

Izzy and Tom met at university, where Tom studied Psychology and Izzy Languages and Law. They both were heavily involved in the same society. One of Izzy’s friends was organising a Mid-Year Conference for that society and asked them both to be MCs. Throughout that week, they got to know each other very well. When the week was over, Izzy was thrilled to have made a new friend. Not long after, Tom asked her out and the rest is history…

We asked Izzy how Tom proposed, and she told us:

Tom proposed to me by surprising me with a trip to Melbourne where my brother and my two close friends were planning to surprise me! Unfortunately, COVID got in the way of his brilliant plan, so he ended up proposing in one of my favourite places, Bowral in the NSW Southern Highlands. My friends and my brother were discreetly hidden behind bushes and popped the champagne when Tom got down on one knee and I said yes! It was beautiful, chaotic and perfect.

When we asked Izzy what her favourite part of the wedding day was, this was her answer:

There are so many to choose from! I will never forget meeting my husband at the end of the aisle- both of us were so nervous, excited and all-round emotional wrecks! But when we finally saw each other we could have a laugh and relax a little. I also loved walking into the reception with my husband to the theme of our favourite TV show, Inspector Montalbano. It was absolutely perfect.

Another question we asked, what was your inspiration for your wedding?

We had a blue and orange theme to pay homage to our favourite colours. Other than that, we just kept it classic. I also love bright colours so we had a few pops of colour here and there.

Lastly, we wanted to know how she found the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?

It was a bit overwhelming at first, there were so many gowns to choose from and initially, I really had no idea what I wanted! Gradually, I was able to work this out (after trying on a fair few)! I then came to realise that the experience of shopping for a gown was, to me, as important as the gown itself. I loved it when the bridal consultants were passionate about the gowns that I was trying on. At Peter Trends, Kajsa was so patient, excited and helpful (especially when I was trying to decide between two gowns)! I really looked forward to each appointment that I had. The gown itself was comfortable, elegant, fun and unique. I felt it really matched my personality and how I wanted to look on the day.

The Somoma wedding dress is a vintage, strapless bridal gown with pleated full tulle skirt and a sweetheart neckline. It has a shimmery layer of tulle underneath the lace which catches the light beautifully. Izzy found her Australian designed wedding dress in our head office studio in Roseville, Sydney.
