A romantic, vintage wedding with a modern twist for high school sweethearts Emily and John in Pittsburgh USA.

High school sweethearts Emily and John picked a stunning setting for their wedding at Longue Vue Club in Verona, USA. Perched on a ridge high above the Allegheny River, the venue offers some of the most stunning views in Pennsylvania and has been a Pittsburgh treasure since 1920. It was the perfect place for the bride & groom to celebrate together with their families and loved ones, which was what this day was all about. A classically beautiful wedding surrounded by the people they love!

Beautiful real bride Emily was wearing a bespoke, vintage lace wedding dress Kent from Emanuella by the Australian wedding dress designer Peter Trends Bridal. Emily made some changes to the dress and created something special just for her. This vintage gown offered a superb fit with boned bodice and luxury stretch lace. The back is sheer which really shows off the lace and exposed corsetry to full effect. The gown flares from the knee with a fluted fullness around the hemline created with a crinoline. Emily looked like a dream!

We asked Emily a few questions about her wedding experience:

How did you meet your partner and how did they propose to you?

John and I are high school sweethearts. We met back in middle school and quickly became friends. He asked me to a movie the summer before high school, and the rest is history! John and his family took us on a trip to Nemacolin Resort over Labor Day weekend in September of 2019. John told me we were going “for a hike.” About 5 minutes into this “hike,” he asked me to take a seat on a bench in the garden. We hadn’t even made it off of the resort yet. I was so confused. Why were we going to sit down? It’s supposed to be a hike? I took my cross-body purse off and after turning back around, he had the ring box in his hands. I cried so hard, I didn’t say yes or even see the ring for about a minute. Later, he surprised me by asking my parents to join us for dinner. It was the best day!

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

There are honestly so many that it’s hard to pick. If I had to choose just one, it would be our first dance. I recorded myself singing our first dance song as a surprise for John. It was a song I had learned on piano years ago and sang for him for our 3rd anniversary back in high school. We both got a good laugh out of him becoming emotional when he realized it was me. As if that wasn’t enough, I saw my dad, mom, and brother huddled in a hug together watching us dance. All with tears in their eyes. My family is so special to me. Seeing my family, John’s family, and all of our friends watching over us in that moment is a feeling I will never forget.

Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day?

What was your inspiration? We were going for a classic romantic look, incorporating the vintage feeling of our venue while adding some modern twists. Our family and friends are so important to us, so we tried to keep them in mind while planning our day. We also wanted the music to blow everyone away, and I’m happy to say that I believe we succeeded! At the end of the day, we wanted a classically beautiful wedding surrounded by the people we love!

How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?

Shopping for my wedding dress was an absolute dream come true! I found my gown at One White Lane in Pittsburgh, PA. Shout out to Dania and Abby! From the moment I arrived, my family and I were treated like royalty. I was able to pick a few gowns I was interested in, and ended up falling in love with my Emanuella gown. I thought I’d be more confident in the gown by adding bespoke options to the back and straps. I couldn’t believe how much care went into helping me design my bespoke gown. I was given a drawing of the new design ahead of production. I felt so lucky to have so much input in creating my dream gown.
