A love match made in heaven and a country wedding for Sophia & Thomas.

Even before they met, Sophia’s best friend told her that she had found her future husband Tom for her. Not long after they had their first date at Kangaroo Point, and the rest is history.

For the Dennehys, it was all about the love for each other on their wedding day and keeping it intimate, timeless and stylish. They found the perfect setting in the contrasting White Chapel and Black Hall in Kalbar, Queensland Australia, with sophisticated white and green florals. Their theme and inspiration for their country wedding were romantic yet modern and the black and white accents kept things super elegant and sleek.

Stunning bride Sophia wore our Australian designed wedding dress Brittany, a strapless bridal gown, which is the epitome of elegance and class.

How did you meet your partner and how did they propose to you?

I met my partner Tom when I was 19. One of my best friend’s husbands had enlisted in the Army Reserves and Tom happened to sit next to him that day. My friend had texted me saying that she had found my future husband and that became a running joke between her and I. I ended up going to watch them all “march out” with my friend and I was then introduced to Tom properly. After that, Tom and I met a few times with friends before deciding to go out on our own.

Almost eight years later, Tom asked me to go for a walk with him at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane. It was getting quite late and I was highly suspicious as we don’t normally do walks late at night. We ended up going to the spot where we had our first date and Tom got down on one knee and said some beautiful things (to which I can’t quite remember because I was sobbing) and asked me to marry him.

6 months later, we had our perfect wedding in Kalbar, QLD, at the little White Chapel.

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

My favourite part would have to have been walking down the aisle to Tom. It really is true when people say that you don’t notice anyone else except your husband to be as you’re walking down the aisle. It was such a magical experience, sharing that moment with Tom before we committed ourselves to each other was just so special. I think we were just so happy to be in each other’s company and to have our beautiful friends and family witness our ceremony was just so lovely.

Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day? What was your inspiration?

We had a very small wedding so for us our theme was more of elegance and timelessness. We chose black and white to fit in with our stunning Venue (White Chapel and Black Hall). It did not disappoint, as our florals were different types of greens and whites, I felt it really suited what we were looking for and our aesthetic.

How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?

I am very decisive, and I found the wedding gown experience very quick and easy. I went to a few different places and tried on a variety of different styles before settling on the absolutely stunning ‘Brittany’ gown from the Emanuella Collection. As soon as I put it on, it fit my body shape perfectly and I knew I had to be married in it. The gown is such a timeless piece and I fell in love with it straight away. The staff at Pearl Bridal on the Gold Coast, made my experience so comfortable and so easy. They were supportive throughout the whole process.

Beautiful bride Sophia fell in love with the Brittany dress from our Australian wedding dress designers who create the Emanuella Collection, at our Gold Coast retail partner Pearl Bridal. Her bodice features statement draping over a stunning corset whilst the pleated skirt features an A-line skirt, with cross over pleats in the modern split to show off your leg when walking. This deluxe organza wedding dress has a cathedral train that adds drama to the back and pearl buttons to finish off the zip.

What a beautiful wedding. We wish Mr & Mrs Dennehy an eternity of love & happiness.
