A gorgeous Louisiana wedding surrounded by love, family and glittering lights.

Sometimes family knows that two souls are meant to be together. That was the case with Kelli and Steven when distant family did not give up until they managed to convince their loved ones to meet.

One of our favourite questions for brides is how did you meet your fiancé?
Kelli explains how she found Steven, “My little sister was friends with his niece and each of our families had been trying to get us together for years. I finally decided to take him up on his offer to take me on a date. We have been together every single day since our 2nd date“.

Steven’s proposal was romantic and included every one that was special to the pair; “After taking me to dinner at my favorite restaurant, we went to a local city park that still had lights up from the Christmas that had just passed. We walked unfer a lit gazebo, and as he was telling me how much he loved me, I saw people crowding around us and that’s when he got on one knee and asked me to be his wife, with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. The crowd that formed around us was both of our families. My husband made sure that everyone we loved was there to witness our moment. And kept it all a secret! I never knew what he was planning“.

So much has happened in all our lived over the last few years. That has made life time celebrations like weddings even more special. We asked Kelli what was her favourite part of her wedding day?

Kelli summed up her joy by replying, “Finally marrying the man of my dreams after over 6 amazing years together“.

We wanted to know if Kelli had a theme for her special day or a particular inspiration. She replied. “The concept for my wedding day was simple glam! I incorporated rose gold, blush tones, champagne, and gold. Simple and clean floral arrangements, and lots of lightning. Our venue has beautiful fairy lights hanging among the oak trees that we held the ceremony under“.

With such an elegantly simply wedding ceremony and celebration we wondered how did Kelli find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?

Like many brides Kelli explained that the experience was overwhelming at first. “Being a plus size bride I knew I was in for a challenge. I started simple at a chain owned store and was overwhelmed with not knowing what I wanted and not much detailed help from the staff. I then went to several boutiques, some hours away. I probably tried on close to 20 dresses, and was still so undecided. I was overwhelmed at the decisions while underwhelmed by anything I had put on, or the price point wasn’t where I needed to be“.

Fortunately for Kelly after she found Chosen Bridal Boutique and met Britta, their “Chief Encouragement Officer”, She knew she was at the right place. “Britta really listened to what I wanted and didn’t want. She showed me many beautiful dresses and tried to understand what I wanted even when I was unsure of what that was exactly. After one appointment I left undecided“.

Luckily Kelli made a second appointment to try again on another day and finally found Davi from the Australian designed wedding dress collection, Diva Curves by Peter Trends Bridal and knew that was her dream gown.

We wanted to discover what it was that Kelli loved most about her wedding gown; “I loved every detail of my gown. Our Australian wedding dress designers welcome bride’s adding a personal touch to their gowns and Kelli came up with the perfect plan for a little extra detail; “I customized the skirt and added a sequin layer to add some sparkle and it was the best decision. The quality and detail of the gown is stunning. It made me feel like a Queen!

The Davi gown is an extremely classic ball-gown style wedding dress. With off the shoulder neckline, a draped bodice and layered tulle skirt, the Davi has glamour and the same time exudes modern chic. The princess bride tulle skirt glides across the dance floor with ease when the train is bustled for easy movement.
