A beach wedding by the edge of the Indian Ocean for Moana & Khan

The name Moana means ocean or sea, so there was no surprise that Moana & Khan chose a beach wedding to make a life long promise to each other. The perfect setting was Kidogo Arthouse at Bathers Beach in Freemantle, Western Australia. What place could be more romantic than the historic character-rich limestone building sitting right on the sand by the sparkling blue water.
The bride and groom looked radiant and relaxed. The bride looked a dream in our Australian designed wedding dress ROSE from the Rachel Rose Bridal Collection, a soft Chantilly lace fitted style dress with stunning lace motifs. A low back wedding dress with off the shoulder neckline. The 4 bridesmaids wore earthy colours, each one a different colour, that worked well with the boho styled theme.

The day was full of love, laughter and surprises. It was very important for Moana to include her mother who had passed away. The celebrant stopped the ceremony so they could light a candle in honour of the bride’s late mother, which was very touching for all.

Another memorable moment was when nephew Kainoa and Khan’s brothers, family and friends performed the haka. A haka (Māori tradition) is performed to celebrate the new beginning for the wedding couple.

Khan’s little sister with nephews and nieces also performed, and the bride & groom joined them on the dancefloor in a display of love and culture. Moana told us: Being a Cook Islander it is our tradition to have dancers at weddings or special events. They really wanted to perform at our wedding as they are much involved in our relationship, plus they love to perform!!!

The bride told us that she was introduced to Khan on 03/03/13 by her first cousin Bruno. Khan proposed in Santorini, Greece, a very fitting location for this sea loving pair. Santorini is claimed to be the most romantic island in the world with the best sunsets. The island was formed by a volcanic eruption centuries ago, resulting in the most amazing sea view; black cliffs and beaches, white houses with blue roofs and crystal clear water and every sunset colour imaginable on the sky.

The couple was blessed with a stunning sunset on their wedding day too, and Moana told us that the best part of the wedding was their first dance while the sun was setting.
Moana’s inspiration for the wedding was the beach, and a boho theme.
The wedding party feasted on a fabulous grazing table and danced the night away.
Moana fell in love with her Rose gown from our Australian wedding dress designer Rachel Rose at Perth boutique and Peter Trends retail partner, Bridal by Aubrey Rose.

The Rose gown was perfect for this relaxed style wedding. The dress was the 3rd dress she tried on, and she knew straight away this was her dream gown! What she loved most about her wedding gown was how it catered to her curves

We asked Moana if she have any words of wisdom for future brides? Here’s her advice:
Have fun while you plan everything. Try not to have too much expectations for the day, whatever will happen will happen.
